The Hyannis Yacht Club Swim/Sail Program is open to children of members of the club, as well as children of non-members when sponsored by a club member. Children attend throughout the summer vacation and take part in countless group activities including organized games, swimming meets with other clubs, fun racing, regattas, and all kinds of supervised fun in and on the water.

Children growing up through this program make lifelong friends and many return as instructors for the program. Because of their participation in our programs, participants often sail or swim on their High School teams as well as compete at the college, national, and international level. We know that not all children are naturally competitive, so we take care to make sure that there are always opportunities to just join in and have fun with friends in a safe learning environment. Of the club’s current active members, many grew up through the program, and the connections go back through multiple generations.  We welcome new members and their children, and we’ll make space in the program for new participants - it’s the only way to grow our club and make it stronger.

During lessons the participants are taught by qualified swimming and sailing instructors.  If you want more information on the programs please contact Nic Judson, our Waterfront Director, via email at waterfront@hyannisyachtclub.org.

The Hyannis Yacht Club youth program teaches its participants  to be safe in, on and around the water, supporting and sustaining the participants with instruction, information and encouragement. We have designed and  implemented a curriculum to develop skills and provide appropriate resources to our participants. This  creates an atmosphere of safety, fun, self-reliance and good sportsmanship.

The HYC youth program consists of eight consecutive weeks for children 6 years of age and older (4 and up for the swimming program). Children will spend their summer outdoors in a supervised environment with others of their own age. They develop an understanding of sailing and boating, improve their swimming skills, and have the opportunity to compete in local and regional competitive events. Friendship, camaraderie and FUN are the core priciples of the youth program.

In addition, we also offer an adult sailing program for anyone who would like to learn to sail, learn to race, or improve upon their sailing knowledge.

Registrations for HYC members begins in early February, Non member registration begins March 1. We are looking foward to a fabulous summer.
